What is a Portfolio?

As you grow your portfolio with creative drawing skills in various materials and mediums, remember to consider the figure, fabric, materials, colour, digital technologies for print and latest fabrics. Additionally, experiment with layout, surface and presentation components of mood boards. Dive into mixed media sculptural fashion forms and develop an understanding of fashion accessories including embroidery, textiles, weave and prints. You will also be taught digital photography and fashion illustration techniques.

Through the creation of tangible products, the Industrial Design portfolio preparation enables learners to gain an understanding of the various approaches, processes, and systems for addressing human needs. A variety of courses emphasize learning through doing and following a comprehensive process for designing, producing, and marketing products, systems, and services.

It covers topics such as design ethnography, design research, ergonomics, design process, strength of materials, history of design, sustainable design, and system design.

Portfolio Preparation-

For advanced students, Portfolio Preparation is designed. As a first semester course, this course is always offered in order to facilitate college admissions, since the art student must be self-directed, exploratory, and creative. During this workshop, students will review college application requirements, get advice on choosing the right art program, prepare admission portfolio requirements, and discover career options in the visual arts.

Utilising skills and techniques in research, sketchbook development, and practical work, you will develop an artwork portfolio for art college applications.

It is important that you include all of these elements in your university application for full-time courses and beyond, including portfolio presentation, interview techniques, personal statements, and references.

At the start of this course, your portfolio will be assessed to decide the path for future projects. Learners will have an opportunity to refine earlier artwork before generating a large charcoal sketch from what they observe. Following that initial drawing, personal assignments must be created according to the needs of their portfolios. Finally, the final portfolio must consist of at least three new art pieces.

As an artist, your final portfolio should reflect your current skills and development. By the end of this course, you should have compiled a portfolio that represents:

Drawing skills: observing light, shade, and details of a form. Skills in creative problem-solving, including your planning sketchbook and planning process. Reflecting on your creative process.
