UNDERGRADUATE COMMON ENTRANCE EXAM FOR DESIGN

The IIT UCEED is an entrance exam designed to facilitate admission into the Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) programme, offered by IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IITDM Jabalpur. While taking the exam alone does not guarantee entry, the competition is highly competitive. Therefore, applicants must abide by the prescribed admission process set forth by IIT Bombay. Additionally, some of the top design colleges accept UCEED scores - Pearl Academy, Srishti Manipal, Chandigarh University, Woxsen University, Presidency University, IIAD and UPES for instance - yet other institutes may have differing eligibility criteria and admission processes that must be verified beforehand.

The UCEED exam covers a variety of topics including 'visualisation and spatial ability', 'observation and design sensitivity', 'environmental and social awareness', 'analytical and logical reasoning', 'language and creativity', 'design thinking and problem solving', as well as drawing. The test is held in English once yearly, lasting three hours, with two sections; Part-A conducted on computers, while Part-B is completed manually. It is mandatory to complete both sections for an overall total of 300 points. Scorecards are valid for one year, with candidates' ranks determining seat allocations.
